Quick answer

Can I buy a domain with Bitcoin?

Yes, you can buy a domain with Bitcoin at BuyDomainsCrypto, with no KYC. Bitcoin is the coin most registrars mention first, but almost always through a third-party processor such as BitPay or BTCPay. At BuyDomainsCrypto you send BTC straight to the address on the payment page, on the Bitcoin network, and the top-up is credited after 2 confirmations. A .com costs $11.49/year and $11.49/year to renew. No ID: only a verified email, kept private.

How do I buy a domain with Bitcoin?

Five steps from search to an active domain. The order status moves from Awaiting payment to Verifying, Processing and Active.

  1. Search the name

Search a domain and add it to your cart. Prices are per year in US dollars: .com $11.49/year.

  2. Choose BTC on Bitcoin

On the payment page, top up at least $25 and choose BTC on Bitcoin. Pick the same network in your wallet or exchange.

  3. Send the exact amount

Send the exact BTC amount to the address shown: a Bitcoin address (starts with bc1, 1 or 3). The rate is locked for 30 minutes.

  4. Wait for 2 confirmations

The order shows Verifying while the payment is checked on the blockchain. Your balance is credited after 2 confirmations on the Bitcoin network.

  5. Get your domain

The order moves to Processing, then Active: usually within minutes of the top-up being credited; a few extensions take a few hours. Safety net: if a domain cannot be registered (taken in the meantime, registry refusal), the full amount goes back to your balance.

How much does it cost to pay with Bitcoin?

BuyDomainsCrypto adds no fee for paying in Bitcoin. You pay the domain price in US dollars, plus the fee of the Bitcoin network, which goes to the network. Bitcoin network fees depend on how busy the network is and on the size of your transaction, not on the amount. Sending from a wallet that lets you pick the fee helps; an exchange withdrawal usually charges its own flat fee.

An exchange may also charge its own withdrawal fee. If it takes that fee from the amount you send, add it, so the exact amount arrives. Domain prices are the same whatever coin you use: see the pricing page.

What mistakes should I avoid when paying with Bitcoin?

Check three things before you send: the network, the exact amount and the 30-minute window. Bitcoin has one network. Lightning is not supported.

  • Send from a wallet you control or from an exchange that supports on-chain Bitcoin withdrawals.
  • Lightning payments are not accepted: send an on-chain Bitcoin transaction.
  • Send the exact amount shown: it is how the payment is matched to your account.

How payment works

  1. Top up $25 or more

Choose the amount and the coin (BTC, USDT, USDC, ETH, SOL, LTC). The crypto amount and its rate are locked for 30 minutes.

  2. Send it to the address shown, on the exact network

The payment page shows our deposit address for the coin and network you picked: BTC on Bitcoin, USDT on Tron (TRC-20) or Ethereum (ERC-20), USDC on Ethereum (ERC-20), ETH on Ethereum, SOL on Solana, LTC on Litecoin. Send only that coin on that network: funds sent on another network or in another coin can’t be recovered. The network fee comes on top of the amount.

  3. Send the exact amount shown, then click “I’ve sent the payment”

Each top-up has its own exact amount (down to the last decimals): that is how your payment is found and matched to your account automatically. Nothing else to send us.

  4. Credited after the network confirmations

Your balance is credited once the network has confirmed the transaction. Usual times:

    CryptoNetworkConfirmationsUsual time
    BTCBitcoin2≈ 20 min
    USDTTron (TRC-20)20≈ 1 min
    USDTEthereum (ERC-20)12≈ 5 min
    USDCEthereum (ERC-20)12≈ 5 min
    ETHEthereum12≈ 5 min
    SOLSolana1≈ 1 min
    LTCLitecoin6≈ 15 min
  5. One balance for every domain

If you started from a domain search, the domains in your cart are registered automatically as soon as the top-up is credited. What is left stays on your balance for renewals, transfers and new domains. Unused balance stays on your account and never expires, and it pays for new domains, renewals and transfers, but it is not refundable.

Closed the tab? The pending top-up stays under Billing in your account: open it to see the address and the exact amount again.

Paying with Bitcoin: FAQ

Can I buy a domain with Bitcoin without KYC?

Yes. BuyDomainsCrypto never asks for an ID, a selfie or documents. You top up your balance in BTC on Bitcoin and register any of 55 extensions from it. You only need a working email address: the registrant email is verified after registration, as ICANN rules require (within 15 days).

How many confirmations does a Bitcoin payment need?

A Bitcoin top-up is credited after 2 confirmations on the Bitcoin network. Until then the order shows Verifying, while the payment is checked on the blockchain. Once credited, the balance pays your cart and the order moves to Processing, then Active. For comparison: 2 for BTC, 20 for USDT TRC-20, 12 for ERC-20 tokens and ETH, 1 for SOL, 6 for LTC.

What happens if I send BTC on the wrong network?

Bitcoin has one network. Lightning is not supported. A payment sent on another network does not reach your top-up and may not be recoverable. Write to [email protected] with the coin, the network, the exact amount and the time you sent it: we check what is possible, but we cannot promise a recovery. Always compare the network on the payment page with your wallet.

Is the BTC price locked?

Yes, for 30 minutes. Prices are in US dollars; at checkout the BTC amount is calculated from the dollar price and locked for 30 minutes. Send the exact amount within that window. If your exchange deducts a withdrawal fee from the amount, add it, so the exact amount arrives.

Can I get a refund in Bitcoin?

Top-ups are not paid back in crypto. Unused balance stays on your account and never expires, and it pays for new domains, renewals and transfers, but it is not refundable. Safety net: if a domain cannot be registered (taken in the meantime, registry refusal), the full amount goes back to your balance. You can then pick another name or pay a renewal with it. The refunds page explains the rules in full.

Is a Bitcoin payment private?

Not on the blockchain: Bitcoin is a public ledger, so anyone can see the transaction and the addresses. What stays private is your identity on our side: no ID, no KYC, only a verified email, kept private. WHOIS privacy then keeps your details out of public records where the registry allows it.

Can I pay renewals and transfers with Bitcoin?

Yes. One balance pays registrations, renewals and transfers. Top up in BTC whenever you want; auto-renew does the rest: automatic renewal from your balance, switched on or off for each domain. Unused balance never expires, so a top-up today can pay next year's renewal of any domain on the account.

Can I pay for a domain with Bitcoin Lightning?

No. Lightning payments are not accepted: send an on-chain Bitcoin transaction to the address on the payment page. The top-up is credited after 2 confirmations on the Bitcoin network. If your wallet only sends Lightning, withdraw on-chain from an exchange, or pay with another accepted coin such as Litecoin or USDT.
