What exactly changes on 1 November 2026?
The price Verisign charges registrars for each .com year rises from $10.26 to $10.97. Every registrar pays it from that date, for new registrations, renewals and transfers.
ICANN adds a fee of $0.20 per domain-year. So the minimum cost of one .com year, before any registrar margin, goes from $10.46 to $11.17.
Registrants do not pay Verisign directly. What you pay depends on how your registrar passes the rise on, and when.
How has the .com wholesale price changed since 2021?
It rose by 7% each September from 2021 to 2024, reaching $10.26, then stayed flat in 2025. The rise to $10.97 on 1 November 2026 is the fifth increase in six years.
Verisign runs the .com registry under an agreement with ICANN that allows rises of up to 7% in certain years. Industry reports on the 2026 rise say the contract leaves room for three more rises of 7%.
Verisign .com wholesale price, 2021–2026
| Date | Change | Wholesale price per year |
|---|---|---|
| September 2021 to September 2024 | +7% each September (4 rises) | $10.26 after the September 2024 rise |
| 2025 | No rise | $10.26 |
| 1 November 2026 | +$0.71 (+6.9%) | $10.97 |
Add the $0.20 ICANN fee per domain-year for the full cost floor: $10.46 before 1 November 2026, $11.17 after.
What does the rise mean for .com renewals at other registrars?
It depends on how close each registrar sells to cost. Cloudflare states that it charges the registry and ICANN cost with no markup, so its .com price follows the floor. That is $10.46 on 8 October 2026, and $11.17 at cost after 1 November.
Several registrars listed a .com renewal below $11.17 on 8 October 2026. After 1 November, those prices would be under the new cost unless they change. Their new prices were not published when we checked.

Will the .com price change at BuyDomainsCrypto?
The rise does not push our .com under cost. Our .com costs $11.49/year for the first year and $11.49/year to renew, a price set above the $11.17 floor that applies from 1 November 2026.
Our prices follow one rule: registry wholesale price, plus the ICANN fee where it applies, plus a small margin. Every price is public on the pricing page and in pricing.json, and the crypto domain price index compares them with other registrars. Site changes are listed in the changelog.
How can I lock today's .com price?
Renew or register for several years before 1 November 2026. Registrars generally charge their current price for each year of a multi-year renewal paid now, so the years you pay today are not affected by a later rise.
- Limit: a .com cannot be registered for more than 10 years ahead in total.
- At BuyDomainsCrypto: a new 5-year .com costs the first year $11.49 + 4 renewals at $11.49, paid once from your crypto balance. For a multi-year renewal of a domain you already hold here, write to support.
- Elsewhere: check that your registrar's multi-year price is its current price, not a future one.
Money paid years ahead is not available for other uses. Lock only the names you are sure to keep; investors can read the bulk guide.
.com price increase: FAQ
When does the .com price increase take effect?
On 1 November 2026. From that date Verisign charges registrars $10.97 per .com year instead of $10.26, for registrations, renewals and transfers. With the $0.20 ICANN fee, the cost floor becomes $11.17. When your own price changes depends on your registrar.
How much is the .com wholesale price after the increase?
$10.97 a year, paid by the registrar to Verisign. ICANN adds $0.20 per domain-year, so the cost of one .com year before any registrar margin is $11.17. A registrar that sells at cost, such as Cloudflare, therefore charges about that amount from 1 November 2026.
Why does Verisign raise the .com price?
Its agreement with ICANN allows it. Verisign runs the .com registry under a contract that permits rises of up to 7% in certain years. It used that room each September from 2021 to 2024, made no rise in 2025, and applies the next one on 1 November 2026. Reports say three more 7% rises remain possible.
Does BuyDomainsCrypto raise its .com price on 1 November?
Our .com costs $11.49/year, with the same price to renew, and that price already sits above the new $11.17 floor. The rise therefore does not push it under cost. Every price we charge is public on the pricing page and in pricing.json, paid in crypto with no KYC.
Should I renew my .com for several years now?
If you are sure to keep the name, a multi-year renewal paid before 1 November 2026 locks your registrar's current price for those years at most registrars. The total cannot exceed 10 years ahead. If you may drop the name, a long renewal costs more than it saves.
What does the rise mean if I use Cloudflare Registrar?
Cloudflare states that it charges the registry and ICANN cost with no markup. On 8 October 2026 its .com was $10.46, the old floor, so at cost it becomes $11.17 after 1 November. Cloudflare documents no crypto payment; see our Cloudflare Registrar alternative.
Is .net going up too?
Yes, later. Verisign raises the .net wholesale price from $10.91 to $12.00 on 1 March 2027, per Domain Name Wire. The .net price report covers the date, the gap with Cloudflare's current .net price and what to do before March.
