.net price increase on 1 March 2027

Verisign announced in August 2026 that the .net wholesale price rises by $1.09 on 1 March 2027. What it changes, what is still unclear, and what to do before that date.

Quick answer

How much will a .net domain cost after March 2027?

On 1 March 2027, Verisign raises the .net wholesale price from $10.91 to $12.00 a year, per Domain Name Wire (27 August 2026). With the $0.20 ICANN fee, the cost floor becomes $12.20. BuyDomainsCrypto sells .net at $12.19/year today, paid in crypto with no KYC, and will revise that price before 1 March 2027.

What changes on 1 March 2027?

The price Verisign charges registrars for each .net year rises from $10.91 to $12.00. From that date, every registrar pays it for new registrations, renewals and transfers of .net names.

With the ICANN fee of $0.20 per domain-year, the public cost floor of a .net goes from $11.11 to $12.20. What you pay depends on when and how your registrar passes the rise on.

The .com rise comes first, on 1 November 2026; see the .com price report.

Why does Cloudflare show $11.86 for a .net?

We do not know yet. Cloudflare states that it sells at the registry and ICANN cost, with no markup. On 8 October 2026 it listed .net at $11.86, per cfdomainpricing.com.

But $10.91 + $0.20 gives $11.11, a gap of $0.75 that we could not explain from public sources. Until it is explained, we treat $11.86 as the prudent floor for .net today. Our current .net price, $12.19/year, sits above it.

What will .net cost at BuyDomainsCrypto after March 2027?

We will revise the .net price before 1 March 2027; the new price is not set yet. Today a .net costs $12.19/year for the first year and $12.19/year to renew.

The new floor of $12.20 is above that level, so the price must move. It will follow the same rule as the rest of the grid: registry wholesale price, plus the ICANN fee, plus a small margin.

The current price of every extension is on the pricing page and in pricing.json. Years you pay before the change keep the price you paid.

Should I renew my .net before March 2027?

If you are sure to keep the name, yes: a multi-year renewal paid before 1 March 2027 locks your registrar's current price for those years at most registrars. Registrars generally charge their current price for each year of a renewal paid now.

  • Limit: a .net cannot be registered for more than 10 years ahead in total.
  • At BuyDomainsCrypto: a new 3-year .net costs the first year $12.19 + 2 renewals at $12.19, paid once from your crypto balance. For a multi-year renewal of a .net you already hold here, write to support.
  • Names you may drop: a long renewal costs more than it saves.

To move a .net here first, see the transfer guide.

.net price increase: FAQ

When does the .net price increase take effect?

On 1 March 2027. From that date Verisign charges registrars $12.00 per .net year instead of $10.91, for registrations, renewals and transfers. Domain Name Wire reported the announcement on 27 August 2026. When your own price changes depends on your registrar.

How much is the .net cost floor after the increase?

$12.20 a year: $12.00 for Verisign plus the $0.20 ICANN fee. Today the same calculation gives $11.11. Cloudflare, which sells at cost, listed .net at $11.86 on 8 October 2026, a gap of $0.75 we could not explain from public sources. Until it is explained, $11.86 is the prudent floor today.

Will BuyDomainsCrypto raise its .net price?

Yes, before 1 March 2027, because the new floor is above today's price of $12.19/year. The new price is not set yet. It will follow the same rule as the whole grid: registry price, plus the ICANN fee, plus a small margin. It will appear on the pricing page and in pricing.json.

Does the rise affect .net names I already paid for?

No. The years already paid stay paid. The rise applies to registrations, renewals and transfers made from 1 March 2027. A renewal paid before that date is charged at the price your registrar shows when you pay it. At most registrars, that includes every year of a multi-year renewal.

Is .com going up too?

Yes, and sooner. Verisign raises the .com wholesale price from $10.26 to $10.97 on 1 November 2026, so the .com floor becomes $11.17. Our .com costs $11.49/year, above that floor, with the same price to renew. The .com price report covers the history of the rises and how to lock a price.

Can I pay for a .net domain with crypto?

Yes. Top up your balance with Bitcoin (BTC), Tether (USDT), USD Coin (USDC), Ethereum (ETH), Solana (SOL), Litecoin (LTC), from $25, then register or renew the .net from it. USDT is accepted on Tron (TRC-20) or Ethereum (ERC-20), and USDC on Ethereum (ERC-20). No ID is asked: only a working email, verified as ICANN rules require.
