Quick answer

How do I buy a domain with crypto?

To buy a domain with crypto at BuyDomainsCrypto, search the name and add it to the cart. Top up your balance (minimum $25) in BTC, USDT, USDC, ETH, SOL or LTC. Send the exact amount on the exact network. Once the blockchain confirms it, the domain is registered, usually within minutes. A .com costs $11.49/year. No KYC: no ID, only a verified email.

What are the steps to buy a domain with crypto?

The whole flow happens in the client area. The only wait is the blockchain confirmation of your payment.

  1. Search the name

Type the name in the domain search. For most extensions, availability comes live from the registry (RDAP). For .io, .co and .me, availability is confirmed when you order.

  2. Add it to the cart

Pick the extension and add it to the cart. Check its renewal price and any registry rule first, such as the 2-year minimum on .ai: both are on the price list.

  3. Top up your balance

Choose the amount (minimum $25) and the coin. The crypto amount and its rate are locked for 30 minutes.

  4. Send the exact amount on the exact network

Copy the address and the exact amount from the payment page. Send only that coin, on that network: USDT on TRC-20 is not the same as USDT on ERC-20.

  5. Wait for the credit

The payment is checked on the blockchain and credited after the network confirmations: 1 for Solana, 2 for Bitcoin, 20 for USDT on Tron.

  6. The domain is registered

The order is paid from the balance and sent to the registry. Timing: usually within minutes of the top-up being credited; a few extensions take a few hours.

  7. Manage DNS and renewals

In My domains: nameservers, DNS records, transfer lock, WHOIS privacy and auto-renew from your balance.

What do the order statuses mean?

Each order shows one of five statuses in the client area. They follow the payment, then the registration.

StatusWhat is happeningWhat you do
Awaiting paymentThe order waits for a top-up that covers itSend the exact amount on the network shown
VerifyingThe payment is being checked on the blockchain, confirmation by confirmationNothing: wait for the confirmations
ProcessingThe balance is charged and the registration is sent to the registryNothing: most domains are done in minutes
ActiveThe domain is registered in the registrySet the nameservers or DNS records
FailedThe registry refused the name, or it was taken in the meantimeNothing to claim: the amount is back on your balance

How long does it take to register a domain paid in crypto?

Usually a few minutes after your payment confirms. Registration timing: usually within minutes of the top-up being credited; a few extensions take a few hours. The wait before that depends on the coin you send:

  • USDT on Tron (TRC-20) and SOL: about 1 minute.
  • ETH, USDT ERC-20 and USDC: about 5 minutes for 12 confirmations.
  • LTC: about 15 minutes for 6 confirmations.
  • BTC: about 20 minutes for 2 confirmations.

These are usual times, not guarantees: a busy network can take longer. The full table is under how payment works.

What happens if the domain is taken before my payment confirms?

Your money is safe: if a domain cannot be registered (taken in the meantime, registry refusal), the full amount goes back to your balance. Nothing is lost and no refund request is needed. The order shows the status Failed.

This can happen with a popular name. Someone can register it during the minutes your payment needs to confirm. It can also happen when a registry refuses a name. For .io, .co and .me, availability is only confirmed at order, so a name that looks free can still fail.

The credit stays on your balance. Search another name and pay for it at once, with no new top-up. Unused balance stays on your account and never expires, and it pays for new domains, renewals and transfers, but it is not refundable.

How does auto-renew work with a crypto balance?

Auto-renew pays the renewal from your balance before the domain expires. BuyDomainsCrypto offers automatic renewal from your balance, switched on or off for each domain.

  • Turn it on or off in My domains, for each domain.
  • Keep enough balance to cover the renewal price before the expiry date.
  • Renewal prices are on the pricing page: $11.49 a year for a .com.

There is no card on file, so nothing is charged that you did not top up yourself.

How do I manage DNS after registration?

From My domains in the client area. You have free DNS hosting with A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, TXT and CAA records, or your own nameservers (2 to 13).

  • Nameservers: keep ours, or set 2 to 13 custom nameservers.
  • DNS records: A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, TXT and CAA.
  • Transfer lock: on or off.
  • WHOIS privacy: on or off, where the registry allows it. See WHOIS privacy.

Each change you submit gets a reference number, and our team applies it. BuyDomainsCrypto does not sell email or web hosting: use MX records to connect the email provider of your choice.

How do I transfer a domain in or out?

With the domain's auth code, also called the EPP code.

Transfer in:

  1. Unlock the domain at your current registrar and ask it for the auth (EPP) code.
  2. Start the transfer from the client area and enter the code.
  3. Pay the transfer price from your balance: $11.49 for a .com. On gTLDs, it adds one year to the expiry date.

Under ICANN's Transfer Policy, a gTLD domain usually cannot change registrar within 60 days of its registration or of a previous transfer.

Transfer out: turn off the transfer lock in My domains, then request the auth code. It is free, requested from the client area. We never ask for your password, your account number or your domain transfer (EPP) codes by email or chat.

How it works: FAQ

Do I need an account to buy a domain with crypto?

Yes: a client account, opened with a random account number, and one email per domain. We collect nothing else: the registrant email is verified after registration, as ICANN rules require (within 15 days). No ID, no selfie, no phone number and no card. The account holds your balance, your orders and your domains, and it is where you manage DNS and renewals.

Can I pay for a single domain without topping up $25?

No. Every payment goes through the prepaid balance, and the minimum top-up is $25. That covers two .com registrations at $11.49. What you do not spend stays on your balance for renewals, transfers and new domains. Unused balance stays on your account and never expires, and it pays for new domains, renewals and transfers, but it is not refundable.

I closed the payment page. Is my payment lost?

No. The pending top-up stays in your account. Open it again to see the address, the network and the exact amount. If you already sent the payment, it is matched by its exact amount and credited after the confirmations. Send within the 30-minute rate lock shown on the page.

What if I send the wrong coin or the wrong network?

Funds sent in another coin or on another network cannot be recovered. Check twice before you send. USDT goes only on Tron (TRC-20) or Ethereum (ERC-20), and USDC only on Ethereum (ERC-20). Never use BNB Chain, Polygon or a layer-2. The pay with crypto page explains how to avoid wrong-network errors.

How fast is a .com registered after payment?

Usually within minutes of the top-up being credited. With USDT on Tron (TRC-20) or SOL, the credit itself takes about a minute. With Bitcoin, 2 confirmations take about 20 minutes. A few extensions take a few hours at the registry. The order status moves from Verifying to Processing, then to Active.

Can I register several domains in one order?

Yes. Add every name to the cart and pay the total from one balance. Top up once for the whole cart, or more if you want credit for renewals. Each domain then has its own auto-renew switch. For larger lists, read the guide bulk domain registration with crypto.

Can I get my crypto back if I change my mind?

No. A top-up is not refundable, and unused balance never expires. If a registration fails, the full amount goes back to your balance, not to your wallet. Top up only what you plan to spend on domains. The details are in our refunds and balance policy.
