A .dev domain is used by developers for portfolios, documentation, libraries and developer tools. Google Registry runs it. Like .app, the whole extension is HSTS-preloaded, so .dev websites must use HTTPS.

Who can register a .dev domain?
Anyone can register a .dev domain: there is no registrant restriction. As with .app, browsers connect to .dev websites over HTTPS only.
